Whilst my 4 children were growing up, I became aware of a deep malaise in today’s youth. I saw kids walking down the street, their heads bent over their phones, isolated by their earphones, unaware of their surroundings and potential dangers. I saw a culture that tells teenagers it's impossible to have fun without a boost of alcohol and other substances that are so readily available and dangerous.
I saw children trying to conform to an idealistic, unrealistic model, warped by the filters of social media, their self-confidence at risk with every new post. From these realizations came the conviction that young people needed special tools to face this world, giving them a chance to grow up safe and happy, and above all, what I wanted to give kids was the confidence and the freedom to be themselves.
To empower communities, especially children and young people, by equipping them with essential skills to navigate and ensure their safety in potentially dangerous or violent situations. Through education and awareness initiatives, we provide valuable life skills that enable participants to make informed decisions, identify potential risks, and take appropriate actions when faced with adversity. We aspire to create communities where our youth can confidently face challenges, and contribute to building a safer society for themselves and future generations.
AWARENESS & EDUCATION
Our primary purpose is to raise awareness of the causes and consequences of violence within our communities.
EMPOWERMENT THROUGH KNOWLEDGE
We are dedicated to empowering young people with the skills to identify signs of danger and proactively avoid potentially violent situations.
We seek to build confidence among individuals, enabling them to communicate effectively and defuse tense situations before they escalate into violence.
We emphasize the importance of peaceful conflict resolution, and provide tools and strategies for resolving disputes without resorting to violence.
SELF-DEFENCE AS A LAST RESORT
While our focus is on non-violent conflict resolution, we also recognize the significance of self-defence as a last resort. We ensure that individuals have the tools and training needed to physically protect themselves if necessary.
Our vision is one of safer communities. The paramount goal is to create environments where people can work, live, and play without fear. This ideal state is underpinned by empowering individuals with the skills necessary to identify, understand, and effectively de-escalate conflicts as they arise. We believe that prevention and resolution through communication should always be the first line of defence.
However, recognizing that there may be situations where physical self-defence becomes a last resort, we also advocate for individuals to possess the knowledge and abilities to protect themselves if necessary. It is essential to find a balance between non-violent conflict resolution and the ability to ensure personal safety when all else fails.
As part of our commitment to achieving these goals, Resolve it! safety programs will be integrated into the national curriculum, ensuring that students in all primary and secondary schools have access to these essential skills and knowledge. By equipping the younger generation with the tools to navigate conflicts peacefully and safeguard themselves when required, we hope to contribute to safer, more harmonious communities.
Resolve it! values are the heartbeat of our organisation and at the forefront of everything that we do!
