EQUALITY and DIVERSITY
Equality: The state of being equal, especially in status, rights, or opportunities and others.
There is no room for discrimination in RESOLVEit, we believe that everyone has the right to feel safe and be treated equally regardless of their gender, colour, nationality or any other feature.
We believe everything can be RESOLVED if people share these eight common values: Respect, Empathy, Sincerity, Originality, Loyalty, Virtue, Empowerment, Determination.
These values are at the core of everything we do. Even our superheroes each bear the first letter of one of these core values as you will see from the images below.
Here at RESOLVEit, we are horrified and appalled by the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Abery to name just a few of the many people who have lost their lives to racism and police brutality. We are also aware that this is not something new, racism has existed systemically, systematically, consciously and subconsciously for hundreds of years, but we are hopeful for change.
People have opened their eyes. Of course, such atrocities should not have been the catalyst for this, but we feel that this time there is outrage. There are international protests and a new sense of determination regarding the struggle for equality and the #BlackLivesMatter movement. We recognise that it is not enough to simply not be racist, we must be actively anti-racist.
As a company, we wholeheartedly believe that “Everyone has the right to feel safe”. The best way to ensure that every single member of society feels safe is to educate, self-evaluate and do better. Our main purpose is to educate and we consistently interact with and teach the future generation, therefore we know that just sharing social media posts and voicing our solidarity is not enough.
Transphobia is not an option. Racism is not an option. Homophobia is not an option. Sexism is not an option. To conquer inequality and racism, we must be teachable, correctable, patient, consistent and vigilant.
In light of this, we pledge to do MORE.
Our PSHE courses will continue to teach young people to tackle inequality and racism head on. We will teach about racism, diversity, homosexuality and more. We will guide people to be empathetic, kind and open-minded individuals. Nobody is born with prejudice, prejudice is taught. We recognise the cruciality of educating young people to accept people from all walks of life.
We will also ensure that our online content on social media, on our website and in our Tuborial workshops, will be diverse. We are aware of privileges that exist in society, with people not always seeing diverse representation in the media, thus we want to ensure that this is not the case on our platform. Our output will be diverse and celebratory of all walks of life.
The RESOLVEit team will invest their time in workshops to promote wellbeing, inclusion and diversity. The first of which is our #timetochange movement, funded by Moondance. Constructed with the aim of providing a balance for students and helping them to understand the current topics in the media, including racism, we will be providing 200 Primary Schools with free access to our Superhero Academy Life Skills workshops.
We believe in equality, diversity, representation, and inclusion. #timetochange
