Halloween is next week a fun time of year for many with lots of parties, events and trick or treating going.

To make your Halloween a safe fun holiday, here’s some safety tips to keep in mind:

  • Always have your child go trick or treating with a responsible adult/older sibling, Especially if they are under 10 years old.

  • There's safety in numbers - Tell your child the importance of staying with their friends whilst they are out. Even on the way home.

  • Awareness is one of the first steps to keeping safe. It's important your child knows the importance of telling you where they are going and to tell you if those plans change.

  • Plan a trick or treat route for them so you know where they've gone.

  • Shortcuts down alleyways and lanes for example are not safe.Tell them to never go inside a strangers house or car.

  • Tell them to stick to the main route, it's well lit and they can see what's going on around them.

  • If your child needs help whilst they're out and about a shop is a good place to go the staff / security guard will be able to help and phone someone for them.

  • Ensure your child knows your house/mobile number off by heart should they need help and not have their phone.

  • Make sure to take a look at their candy before they eat it.
